FAQ

Frequently Asked Question

This is by no means an exhaustive list of questions which we are asked on a regular basis, however these are the types of questions that our customers have asked. We aim to update this regularly so please bear in mind there are no such thing as a silly question.

We recommend that all bases are firm and level for the installation team on arrival. The best base types are slabs, concrete pad or breeze blocks.

We do not recommend putting a timber building directly onto grass or soil as any moisture would be absorbed into the floor timbers of the building. To combat this we recommend either tanalised treated battens or a timber framed base.

This is an example of a framed pin base where the stakes have been driven into the ground to form a robust base for the building to sit on.

Providing the following criteria is met you do not need planning permission for our building.

  • The building is not more than 4m high to the ridge
  • The building does not take up more than 50% of your garden.
  • The building is 1m off your boundary line

Customers should always liaise with their local authority planning department to ensure compliance before placing an order.

We thoroughly recommend treating your building with a good quality preservative. Our recommendation is Protek which should be applied within 3 months of receiving your building, then annually there after. The more you take care of your building the longer it will last.

All of our buildings are guaranteed for a period of 12 months from date of installation. Our buildings should be wind and watertight, if this is not the case then we will arrange for a team to return and inspect the building for you. Please note that the guarantee does not include the mineral felt as there is no guarantee from the manufactures of the felt.
